RV Security Camera with WiFI Video Doorbell and Smartphone App – Install and Review - RV Tips Tricks

Published on Apr 13, 2019 976 views

Install a video doorbell with WiFi for under $100. This one came with the batteries, an SD card, charging cable and even free cloud storage. After testing I found the SD card was not needed and the unit works better without it. Since cloud storage is free the SD card is not needed.

Get Gone with US 2 months ago Nice job Lou! Neat idea. During the day we have the dark tint windows to see out, like you do, but other can't see in. Once the sun goes down though, they are worthless. This will help! The last few weeks we have been researching and working with some security ourselves. Have a great weekend!

  • P & K K
P & K K 4 weeks ago Thanks for the feedback.  I have a co-worker that has the RING and he says it works ok and you need to be close to your wifi router.  I think they all have issues in one way or another.

RV Habit 4 weeks ago Hi, ok I am not dissappointed but I'm not overly impressed either. I purchased two. I have one protected from rain and the other not protected from rain. The one protected from rain has a crisp picture all the time. The one exposed to rain sometimes shows a little fogginess in the picture. Connection from my phone can sometimes take a minute or two. Is that terrible no. Is it great, no. At this point I would say they have been worth the money but I would say they are average in quality. The ones for $200 or more I am sure work much better but are not in my budget at the moment. If I had the budget I would certainly get the more reputable ones. For now these serve the purpose and work well enough.

Mountain Beaches 2 months ago Very Nice. Thanks for sharing. We've been thinking about adding a security camera to our rig. We're relative youtube newbies but rapidly approaching 100 subs. Great job and keep it up, we just subscribed and are looking forward to more.

  • Mile High Campers
Mile High Campers 2 months ago Good review and blog post! It is unfortunate that the SD card was slowing the unit down. I really liked the idea of the SD card over depending on cloud storage. I wonder if upgrading the SD card to one with a faster write speed would fix that issue. I have read that a lot of cameras like gopro, Canon, for example, perform better or worse depending on the SD cards write speed. Good call on the tape, avoiding having to put holes in the rig, Nice work as always!! 😎👍👍

RV Habit 2 months ago Hi, That is a good idea to try a faster SD card. I will have to check the card and get something faster to give it a try. So far the cloud has been flawless. This unit also allows me to take a still picture or manually record video. Thanks so much for taking time to comment. Happy travels, Lou.

RV Enthusiast 2 months ago Nice job Lou. Looks like it will do the trick. Love the forested view of your land too. Also it looks as cold there as it is here. Suppose to get a 70 degree day this week. Hitting 50 degrees today.
